MPL: Laldanmawia's brace sinks Mizoram Police!

The last match of the Round 9 of the Mahindra 2 Wheelers Mizoram Premier League (MPL) could be considered as ‘Top of the Table Clash’ between league leaders Mizoram Police and second place Dinthar FC. Dinthar FC came out on top as they beat Mizoram Police FC by 2-1. They close in on the league leaders as the difference in points is now cut to one. Dinthar FC R.Laldanmawia scored a brace for his team while F.Lalrinpuia scored the only goal for Mizoram Police FC. Man of the Match was Dinthar FC player Lalnunmawia. R.Laldanmawia is the leading goalscorer with 6 goals so far on the campaign. The Starting XI Mizoram Police FC : J.Vanlalhriata (GK), Lalropuia, Sama Hnamte (Captain), JS Lalruatthanga, Lalrinchhana (Vanlalzuia Hnamte), V.Laltanpuia, C.Zothantluanga (Lalhruaitluanga), Lalbiakhlua, Lalfakzuala (David Lalchhuanmawia), C.Lalnunmawia, F.Lalrinpuia Dinthar FC : Zothanmawia (GK), Ramnunsanga (Captain), C.Lalrosanga, Chhuanzika, KC Lalchhuanmawia, Lalhriatzuala (Ramfangzauva), Lalmuansanga, Lalnunmawia, R.Laldanmawia, Zosangliana (B.Lalthantluanga), Samuel Laltlanthanga (Suresh Singh) The top of the table clash between the two sides did not disappoint right from the start. Mizoram Police FC (MPFC) had their playmaker Sama Hnamte in center defence so the game was played more from the back.They had made some mistakes but keeper Hriata did his job when called upon to save his team several times. Dinthar FC had a chance through Zosangliana (Chhaia) but Sama Hnamte was able to block the shot. Soon after this moment, Police had a chance to score but Nunmawia's shot went over the bar. Dinthar FC have speed merchant wingers and they tried their best to utilize their assets. Danmawia had half chances form time to time but keeper Hriata was able to keep them out of his goal. But there was no stopping Danmawii at 22 minutes when he was put through on goal by Winger Lalnunmawia (Mawitea) as his goal sent Dinthar FC fans ‘ The Maimawms’ into ruptures. MPFC came back strongly but were unable to send the ball into the box. Left back Lalrinchhana (Itana)almost scored from a freekick. By the end of the first half F.Lalrinpuia (Valpuia)'s shot was too hot to handle for Keeper T.Mawia and Lalbiakhlua (Biaktea) scored a header from the rebound. But the Assistant Referee raised his flag for offside so the first half ended in a 1-0 scoreline in favour of Dinthar FC. MPFC never wanted to lose a point even on a bad day. But they had more possession on the ball, they played well but lady luck seemed to be against them in this match. Dinthar FC were said to usually drop their performances in the second half but they were lucky today. Dinthar FC remained consistent in the second half. MPFC introduced central defender Hruaia in the second half as Team Captain Sama Hnamte moved up to his favourite midfield position. At 59 minutes MPFC right back Ropuia fed Valpuia and the striker did not disappoint by scoring a wonderful header. The Police began to dominate the game after getting the equalizer. Dinthar FC had droped their performance in the second half especially after conceding the goal. Dinthar FC wingers Mawitea and Danmawia were the live-wire for their team while the Police forwards gave a tough time for Dinthar defenders throughout the game. Right back Ropuia played a solid game with his overlapping runs and crosses were executed with great timings. In the 3rd minute of added time Mawitea was brought down by Zuia Hnamte who was sent off for a second bookable offence and a penalty was given as well. R.Laldanmawia stepped up bravely to score a powerful penalty to put his team ahead and one point behind the opponent and league leaders. The score was 2-1 at the end of 90 minutes.
